Emma's Outlook
A young Armenian journalist, who visits film festival around the world, Emma Karapetyan, has attended recent UNICAs.
I guess that achievements in the sphere of film making are important for any country, as that is one of the important elements in the preservation of culture.
I consider the UNICA Festival an occasion for important intercultural contacts, since the festival film productions from different countries are presented in one hall.
The Festival is a place for making important contacts, since experts from different countries gather there, exchange their thoughts, socialise, make friends, view each other’s cultural works, assess positive and negative aspects of the films.
Being mainly represented by well-known experts, the Festival can also guide young artists, position them on an international stage toward true cinema careers. The problem is, that not many young people who want to become professionals are invited to the Festival. The presence of older specialists is certainly welcome, but young film-makers should also be present, so that a useful exchange of experiences can be achieved.
The UNICA Festival was a new revelation to me, and I think it has yet to fulfill its mission in terms of being of interest for young film authors, guiding and educating them towards the standards of international film-production.
