David Newman wearing his helmet-cam.As a movie maker, David has taken his camera on adventurous holidays as a mountaineer and cyclist. He was a British pioneer of helmet-cameras which brought spine-chilling images of ice-covered drops beneath his feet and a memorable scene when thin air and exertion caused his to black out on the Denali Climb.

On one climbing expedition in Indonesia he used a camera hidden in his pack to record local officials seeking bribes.

A committed cyclist who does not own a car, and part of a highly skilled engineering design team and RollsPortrait of David Newman. Royce, he loves to share his film enthusiasm. For several years he was training officer for the CEMRIAC (Midlands) Group of the IAC and is IAC’s Youth Officer.

Throughout Britain and internationally he is known as the IAC’s Competition Officer. For several years he has organised and managed the IAC’s International Amateur Film and Video Competition. After the judging, he then programmes the film screenings at BIAFF (The British International Amateur Film Festival) to show not just the top winning films, but also a very wide selection of entries.

He has been a member of the CEMRIAC Council and IAC’s National Council for many years.
