Josep Rota (Spain)
Josep Rota began making S-8 movies in 1978. Since then, non professional film-making has been really a passion for him, first as a documentary author, later for fiction films as well. His films have received several awards in Spanish competitions.
He has promoted and been director of film festivals in Sabadell near Barcelona where he was born. He has been a member of several juries in particular for the Spanish selection for the Unica Contest many times, and he was a member of the jury in Unica 1999 in Lappeenranta, in 2003 in Warsaw, in 2007 in Liptovsky Mikulas and in 2011 in Luxemburg.
He received the Unica Spanish medal in 2003 delivered by Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (CEC).
Actually he is member of the organization team in the cinema department in CEC, UNICA’s representative in Spain. He is responsible there for contests and for the one which selects the Unica’s Spanish program, specially.
He goes on making documentary films but he also enjoys a lot watching other authors’ work.
