He is an instructor at the Academy of Film Arts in Budapest,
and University of
Klagenfurt (Austria).
Member of the executive board of the Federation of Hungarian
Film and Television Artists, and president of the
Association of Hungarian Independent Film and Video Makers.
He has been a member
of
the UNICA committee for the past twenty years.
He
is
a frequent lecturer at UNICA Forums.
He is in great
demand as a jury member at international film festivals.
In
1994
he received the prestigious “Bela Balazs Award” for his
achievement in the film arts. |
Poland: Magdalena
Łazarkiewicz |
Graduated in TV
and film directing and drama. Director of seven feature
films, including Through the Touch (under
Krzysztof Kieślowski’s artistic supervision), The
Last Bell,
Marriage of Convenience and The Worlds’ End, as well as
six documentaries. Łazarkiewicz
has also made TV adaptations of eight theatre
plays, a TV series entitled Dreams to Come True,
and a number of
programs on cultural issues for Polish Public TV.
Among the numerous awards she received for her productions
are: the Grand Prix at the Festival in Créteil, France, and Special Jury Prizes at the Polish
Film Festival in Gdynia, Poland and the TV Film Festival in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
Łazarkiewicz has directed plays at
the prestigious Słowacki Theatre in Kraków (Cracaw) and
the Studio Theatre in Warsaw
as well
as an opera at the Wielki Theatre in Łódź, Poland

Seit 1985 habe ich es mir zur Aufgabe gemacht, auf
die möglichen Wirkungen von Medien einzugehen.
Heute vermittle ich die Erkenntnisse vorwiegend Jugendlichen
und gebe ihnen mit dem Medium Video die Möglichkeit, ihre
Ideen und ihre Person zu entfalten.

Spain: Josep Rota |

Born
in 1952 in Sabadell near Barcelona. He began making S-8
movies in 1978. In 1980 he took the beginners’ course at
Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (CEC). Since then, non
professional film-making has been really a passion for
him, first as a documentary author, later for fiction
films as well. One of his
films „ A tu amb certa tristesa”, was screened as
part of the Spanish selection at Unica 1989 in Baden-Baden.
His films has received several awards in Spanish
competitions in pariculiar in CEC (Barcelona),
Calella , Navàs, Zalla, Cuenca
, etc.
He
is currently the director of „Certamen de Cinema i Vídeo
Ciutat de Sabadell”; he has been fourth member of the jury for the
selection of Spanish films for the UNICA Contest, and he
was a member of the jury in Unica 1999 in Lappeenranta
too.
He
goes on making documentary films, which is what he likes
the best, but he also enjoys a lot watching other authors’
works.

Czech
Republic: Ctirad Stipl |
President of the Czech Film Amateur Federation
(ČVU) and editor-in-chief of the UNICA NEWS is 60 years
old, married and has got two daughters and one son. He
passed The Polygraphic College in Prague and worked as a
graphic designer in various printing offices. He is an
editor of the magazine of the Czech UNICA Committee
"Cas
videa" (Video
Times) too. He was a secretary general of the
preparative committee on the 56th UNICA Congress in Hradec
Králové (CZ) in 1994. He organises the film makers in
Mohelnice and the festival
"Mohelnice Film Song and Video Clip" above all since many
years. This competition has already got the 27th year's
this year and an international principal. Every year he
also organised an amateur film show on the occasion of the
country and folk festival "The Mohelnice Stage Coach"
where about 5000 spectators takes part. He began to shoot
his own play-out films, documents, reportage and video
clips in 1978. He and his friend from the Union of
Austrian Film and Video Amateurs, Hermann Blaschke, have
already organised 11year´s film and video comparative
countries shows of Austrian and Czech amateurs very
successfully

The Netherlands: Kees Tervoort |
Born in Velsen,
North West Netherlands,
on 21 October 1949. He became a member of Videofilmers
Velsen In 1984, when his wife was asked to play the lead
part in a production of the Velsen club and he has been
making films (preferably feature films) with much pleasure
ever since. He has taken part in many national and
international festivals, even won several prizes and five
times had the honour of participating in UNICA with a
film.
Via NOVA (Netherlands Organisation
of Audio-visual Non-professionals) he took part in a film
judging course, he is a regular member of the ‘travelling
judging panel’ in the NOVA-district North-Holland and has
judged at many national and international festivals. He
has a preference for feature films and, in judging these,
he pays particular attention to the theme of these films.

Belgium: Jef Van Gompel |
Nickname 'Jef' preferred, born on Nov. 27th 1943,
speech therapist,
works in the hospital Sint-Jan in Brugge,
producer of 80 films, among them 30 animations films,
6 films in the Belgium UNICA-programme:
1 GOLD-,1 SILVER- AND 2 BRONZE-MEDALS,
member of the BRUGSE AMATEURCINEASTS since 1969
member of the jury in many national and international
filmfestivals...
